Our Story …

We are really pleased to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2025 - Winter! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes from Perth to Darwin.

Shitbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 15th year. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000 but most teams raise well above this amount as you can see with the Winter 2025 rally target set at $2,000,000 plus.

These funds go to Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated. Please make sure to follow our progress via this page and the blog post below.

Here's what I'm doing …

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.

The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.

Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.

Dafuq

We are Team Dafuq and we are participating in the Shitbox Rally to raise funds for cancer research. Our team goal is to raise the funds to participate in both of the following rallies as they are two of the rallies that Chris managed to drive in. He drove in three rallies with his mate Brodie, Canberra to Townsville being his last. These rallies will see us driving our Shitboxes (worth $1500 or less – no 4WD allowed) - in a group of approx. 200 teams, consisting of 2 co-drivers, across the length & breadth of Australia, on & off road. Our aim is to complete the following:

Shitbox Rally Winter 2025 Perth to Darwin June 19th – 28th

The Shitbox Rally is not a race, rather a challenge to achieve the unthinkable. Travelling across Australia via some of its most formidable roads and remote communities. Dafuq is a 1989 Nissan Pulsar. This year the rally aims to raise $2m for Cancer Council, which is used to fund cancer research projects nationally. Since the rally launched in 2009, we have raised just over $50 million, we are the largest private fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia. Chris was a super star (ok, yes, I am biased.... he was my youngest son). He used the rally in May 2014 as an incentive to recover from major abdominal surgery. He drove in the 2015 rally between rounds of chemotherapy. He and I were registered to drive in the 2015 Mystery Box Rally (the baby brother of the Shitbox Rally). He tried SO hard to fight and be well enough to drive in that rally in November, but he died on 12th October 2015. His brother, Michael, & I drove the 2015 Mystery Box Rally in his memory. We went on to drive seven more rallies to honour Chris. We decided to make the May 2016 rally a Dafuq record breaker – topping the most the team had thus far raised. We aimed for $10,000 and ended up at $10,848. For the 2025 rallies, I thought that it would be amazing to try breaking the Box Rallies highest fundraising team’s total. It would take the support of enormous proportions, but I still dreamed of doing it! Then I found that the highest single team total, to date is $105,790!!! Our team total since 2013 is $60,324, we are a small family team. So, we don’t just need enormous support – we need legendary support........your support. We are asking for you to donate to our rallies and ask your followers to give a little. The result may well end up being legendary. Thank you very much for your consideration.

Team Dafuq.

Perth to Darwin in June Winter - https://winter2025.shitboxrally.com.au/dafuq

The Impact, Outcomes & Charity

Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.

Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.

Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.

$50 million over the past 15 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:

 • A research study to develop a vaccine that protects against lymphoma cancers.
 • A research trial to standardise international guidelines on melanoma removal.
 • A research grant to revolutionise the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
